How2Become1 Premarital Classes

This 6-week series of premarital classes will help you build on the Biblical design for marital oneness. All singles, engaged and dating couples, regardless of membership, are welcome to attend these classes. How2become1 is offered three times throughout the year. We ask that couples planning on marrying at Vineyard Columbus complete the series within a six-month period. These classes will not only help determine marital readiness, but will also provide valuable tools for building a lasting Christ-centered marriage. Note: How2Become1 is open to all couples, not just those who are being married at the church or by a VC pastor. Please call 614.259.5365 if you would like to register for the How2Become1 classes. Heart2Heart Marriage Mentoring

This is the highlight of our premarital program. It is designed to match a Premarital Couple with a mature Mentor Couple. Mentor Couples help and encourage premarital couples to live out attributes that lead to a vibrant marriage. A premarital couple will learn the following through mentoring:

• How to communicate at a deeper level with each other
• Resolve conflicts
• Understand each other's temperaments
• Value each other's differences
• Help you prepare for your financial future

You will meet with your mentor couple 4-6 sessions during the length of your engagement. Each session is approximately two hours in length. You can count on receiving support and encouragement from your Mentor Couple.

Getting Married at Vineyard Columbus

Our premarital process is designed to help engaged couples build Christ-centered marriages. We value a foundation that includes the following:

• A personal relationship with Jesus Christ
• Commitment to membership at Vineyard Columbus
• At least a one year dating relationship
• Living in accordance with Scriptural principles (maintaining sexual purity; participating in community life, such as a small group; growing in the knowledge of God and his plan for healthy relationships and family life)

There is no shortcut to building intimacy, trust and communication. Following your engagement, these are the steps (in order) you will take to prepare both practically and spiritually for your wedding and marriage! Because it does take time to plan a wedding and prepare for marriage, we ask that you call our office for an appointment as soon as possible following your engagement.

• Schedule an initial meeting with Marriage & Family, 614.259.5365.
• Attend How2Become1 premarital classes (pre-registration required)
• Schedule your Heart2Heart Mentoring meetings (four to six meetings before the wedding)
• Meet with a wedding administrator to confirm a wedding date with the church and a Vineyard Columbus officiating pastor, if needed

Due to the size of our congregation, we are only able to marry couples that are members of Vineyard Columbus. Newcomer's classes (required for membership) are offered five times a year. VC pastors can only marry couples that go through our premarital program.
