Young people need to be launched into the future in order to be successful. Paul's investment in Timothy gives us a model for how someone is not only launched into ministry, but into any calling that God gives a young person.

Scripture is full of demonstrations of blessing and the power of our words, and this 'priestly blessing' gives us a model from which to learn this practice ourselves... to speak intentional words of blessing over others in our life, to understand the spiritual power of our words, and to take seriously our ability to impact those around us by being blessing-givers.

The writer of Hebrews reminds us that discipline is something that is essential to growth. God shows us that the context of discipline is the loving relationship between a parent and a child.

Jesus brought children into the center of his ministry and made it clear that they are at the center of the kingdom. He welcomed those younger than him, included them, and blessed them.... even when those around him were pushing children into the margins.
