At Vineyard Columbus, we’re blessed to be a community of over 125 nations, with more than 25% of our members being foreign-born. This diversity reflects the heart of God that we see in Revelation 7:9 where people from every nation, tribe, people and language gather to worship God. In a time when immigration is such a divisive issue, we want to make it clear where we stand through our values of being Jesus Centered and Scripture Based. We are committed to treating every person with the dignity and respect they deserve because every individual is made in the image of God.
Rooted in Scripture
Our position on immigration is rooted in the clear teachings of Scripture. God commands in Leviticus 19:33-34: “When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.” This call to love and compassion transcends time and culture and remains central to our faith.
Jesus, born into a refugee family (Matthew 2:13-15), showed us the importance of caring for the vulnerable. His ministry was marked by love and service to those in need—especially immigrants, refugees, and the marginalized. As His followers, we are called to do the same.
A Call to Love
We understand that immigration is a complex issue with no easy answers, but as a church, we focus on the people affected by these policies. Our commitment is not driven by political ideologies, but by a call to love and serve others. The current political climate has created fear and uncertainty for many in our immigrant community, and we are here to support them through practical and pastoral care. We may not have all the answers, but we know we are called to stand with the vulnerable.
Shepherding with Compassion
As shepherds of God’s flock, we take seriously the responsibility to care for everyone—immigrants and refugees included. We are called to support those facing anxiety, uncertainty, and potential family separation. To better serve our community, we have created a resource page with practical help, including legal resources, pastoral care, mental health support, and guidance for mixed-status families. Our goal is to provide hope and help in a way that reflects the love of Christ—grounded in justice, mercy, and hospitality. Visit vineyardcolumbus.org/immigration to explore these resources.
